How to Identify the Correct Ignition Coil for the Stihl TS700 and Stihl TS800

There are two different ignition coils available for the Stihl TS700 and Stihl TS800 concrete saw. These ignition coil part number either end in 1300, or 1301, (as seen in figure 1.1). In perfect world conditions, you could identify the correct ignition coil for your TS700 or TS800 by reading the part number on the ignition coil itself. However, sometimes it’s not possible to recognize the part number on the ignition coil. An easy method of identifying your ignition coil is by inspecting the flywheel.

The first step in identifying the correct ignition coil for your TS700 or TS800, is identifying which flywheel you have on your concrete saw. Your TS700 or TS800 has two possible flywheels. The older style flywheel has one set of magnets. The newer style flywheel has a second magnet group, one set on each pole of the flywheel, (as seen in figure 1.2). Additionally, the new style flywheel can be identified by the two opposing pole pairs, integrated moulded part number, and additional fan blades.

Once you’ve identified the flywheel on your TS700 or TS800, you can establish which ignition coil is the correct part for your saw. The flywheel with the single set of magnets uses the ignition coil ending in 1300. The flywheel with two sets of magnets require ignition coil ending in 1301.

The new style ignition system will not be introduced in all versions of the TS700 at the same time. Great care must therefore be taken to establish which ignition system has been installed when carrying out repairs. To ensure correct operation of the ignition system, the individual components (flywheel and ignition coil) of the previous and new versions may only be installed in the correct combinations:

Flywheel 4224-400-1200 combined with ignition coil module 4224-400-1300

OR

Flywheel 4224-100-1201 combined with ignition coil module 4224-400-1301
