DHS Equipment receives a lot of phone calls about how to determine the different between the old style Wacker Neuson PT pump, and the new style PT pump. Specifically, most customers are inquiring about the Wacker Neuson PT2 and PT3 trash pumps. The old style and new style pumps have to main differences, which could cause issues if you don't understand the difference.

Wacker Neuson Old Style PT Pump: The Wacker Neuson old style PT2 and old style PT3 trash pump is assembled with an impeller that slides on to the crankshaft, which is driven by a square key, and secured using a castle nut. (As shown in the figure on the left.)

Wacker Neuson New Style PT Pump: The Wacker Neuson new style PT2 and new style PT3 trash pump is assembled with an impeller that is threaded on to the crankshaft. (As shown in the figure on the right.)

Those are main two differences between the old style PT pump and new style PT pump. Be sure to inspect your trash pump impeller assembly before ordering parts. A very simple identifier for which model you have, would be if your impeller is secured with a castle nut. If a castle nut is securing the impeller on your trash pump, the pump is an old style model. It's as simple as that.

However, if you're still unsure which style PT pump you may have, please document the serial number on your pump, and call us for more information. You can call us toll free at 866-611-9369.
