Since coming up with the idea, Emmett Brown has spent many years and most of his family fortune developing the flux capacitor.  By 1962, Emmett had invented the temporal field capacitor. However, it was only useful for sending objects into the future. Sending objects back in time, even by only a few minutes, caused an overload of flux energy. The excess flux energy was solved with the invention of the lateral flux capacitor having fractal-shaped perimeters, which distributed flux dispersal once the capacitor was activated. This flux capacitor has the following specifications:

  • Required 1.21 gigawatts of power
  • Does not include DeLorean
  • Requires small plutonium-powered nuclear reactor for fuel
  • No installation instructions are available
