When a diaphragm pump loses its suction, the key components to look at are the diaphragm and the flappers. Some may not realize, but rubber actually has a shelf life, and then it begins to degrade. When you mix that with pumping abrasive materials or chemicals, it can cause these rubber components to fail faster. When servicing the diaphragm, it is also recommended to change the flappers as well. If one piece of rubber is failing on the pump, it is likely the others are not far behind.
