The Honda 12023-921-000 Valve Guide is a genuine OEM component designed for B75, BF75, BF8, and BF100 outboard motors. As a direct Honda OEM part, it is manufactured to the same specifications as the original, ensuring a correct fit within the cylinder head. This Valve Guide is compatible with B75 and BF8 portable outboard motors, the BF75 outboard motor, and the BF100 portable outboard motor — confirm your serial number against the fitment table before ordering, as Honda supersedes parts at specific serial breaks.
Key Features
- Genuine OEM Valve Sealing — manufactured by Honda to maintain the precise clearance between the valve stem and cylinder head that correct valve operation depends on, preventing combustion gases from bypassing the valve seat
- Direct OEM Replacement — this part drops into the cylinder head of compatible outboard motors without modification, restoring the original bore-to-stem fit
- Broad Outboard Fitment — covers B75 and BF8 portable outboard motors, the BF75 outboard motor, and the BF100 portable outboard motor; use part number 12023-921-000 to verify against your model
- Check Your Serial Number — Honda updates part supersessions at production serial breaks, so match your outboard's serial number to the fitment table to confirm this is the correct guide for your unit
The valve guide is a precision-fitted sleeve pressed into the cylinder head that keeps each engine valve aligned as it opens and closes. It controls the side-to-side movement of the valve stem, maintaining the correct seating angle so combustion gases are sealed in and oil is kept out of the combustion chamber. When a valve guide wears, the valve stem develops excessive play, leading to oil consumption, poor compression, rough running, and accelerated wear on both the valve and its seat — symptoms that worsen quickly in a marine environment where the engine works hard under load.
