The Honda 17231-ZG9-M00 Air Cleaner Cover is a genuine OEM replacement designed for GXV140 vertical shaft engines and HR215, HRB215, HRC215, HRM195, and HRM215 lawn mowers. As a direct Honda OEM part, it matches the original exactly — no trimming, bending, or adapting needed to get it to seat correctly. This cover fits across several popular Honda walk-behind mower models, so confirm your serial number against the fitment table before ordering to ensure you have the right revision for your unit.
Key Features
- Genuine Honda OEM — sourced directly from Honda, this cover meets the same specifications as the part that left the factory, ensuring a consistent fit and seal on the air cleaner assembly.
- Correct Filtration Enclosure — the cover encloses and protects the air cleaner element, maintaining the clean-air path the engine depends on for consistent combustion and throttle response.
- Broad Mower Fitment — fits GXV140 vertical shaft engines and HR215, HRB215, HRC215, HRM195, and HRM215 lawn mowers, including both residential and commercial walk-behind models.
- Check Your Serial Number — Honda updates parts at production breaks, so verify your machine's serial number against the fitment table to confirm this is the correct cover revision for your unit.
The air cleaner cover is the outer housing that shields the air filter element from grass clippings, debris, and moisture while the mower is in operation. By keeping contaminants away from the filter, the cover allows the engine to draw in clean air at the right volume — essential for stable fuel metering, smooth power delivery, and long engine life. A cracked, missing, or poorly fitting cover lets debris bypass the filter, accelerating wear on internal engine components and causing rough running or hard starting over time.
