The Honda 17510-Z5K-000ZA Fuel Tank (Black) is a genuine OEM replacement built for GX240 and GX270 horizontal shaft engines. This tank is sourced directly from Honda, ensuring an exact match in dimensions, mounting points, and fuel capacity for the engines it serves. Honda part number 17510-Z5K-000ZA covers both the GX240 and GX270 series, but because Honda supersedes parts at production breaks, buyers should verify their engine's serial number against the fitment table before ordering.
Key Features
- Genuine Honda OEM — manufactured to Honda's original specification, so capacity, inlet positioning, and outlet geometry match what left the factory.
- Direct-Fit Replacement — designed specifically for GX240 and GX270 horizontal shaft engines, dropping in without alteration or adaptation.
- Black Finish Variant — the (Black) designation identifies this as a specific color variant; confirm your original tank matches before ordering if your engine was produced in multiple configurations.
- Serial Number Verification Recommended — Honda updates part numbers at production serial breaks; check your engine serial number against the fitment table to confirm this is the correct tank for your unit.
- Fuel Supply Integrity — a sound fuel tank prevents leaks and maintains consistent fuel delivery to the carburetor, keeping the engine running cleanly under load.
The fuel tank stores and supplies gasoline to the carburetor, acting as the primary reservoir for the engine's fuel system. On GX240 and GX270 horizontal shaft engines, a properly sealed tank maintains steady fuel flow and prevents the air ingestion or fuel starvation that causes rough running, hard starting, or unexpected shutoff. A cracked, warped, or leaking tank disrupts this supply and can create a fire hazard, making prompt replacement with a correct OEM unit essential.
