The Honda 18320-Z21-000ZA Muffler Protector (Outer) (Mat Black) is a genuine OEM component designed for EB3800, EB5000, EB6500, EM3800, EM5000, and EM6500 generators. As a direct Honda OEM part, it is manufactured to the same specification as the original, ensuring a correct fit without modification. This outer protector is finished in mat black and is the right choice for operators replacing a damaged or degraded guard on any of the six covered generator models — verify your generator model against the fitment table before ordering.
Key Features
- Genuine Honda OEM Construction — sourced directly from Honda, this protector matches the original part in geometry and finish, so installation is straightforward and the fit is exact.
- Mat Black Outer Variant — the (Outer) (Mat Black) designation identifies this as the specific outer shell in mat black; confirm this matches the guard position and finish on your unit before purchasing.
- Broad Generator Coverage — fits EB3800, EB5000, EB6500, EM3800, EM5000, and EM6500 Honda generators; check your model and serial number against the fitment table, as Honda supersedes parts at serial breaks.
- Protects Against Contact Burns — the muffler on a running generator reaches temperatures capable of causing serious burns; a sound outer protector guards operators and bystanders from incidental contact with the exhaust assembly.
The muffler protector is the outer shield that surrounds the generator's exhaust muffler. Because the muffler operates at high temperatures during normal use, the protector acts as a physical barrier between the hot exhaust components and anyone working near the machine. When the protector is cracked, missing, or warped, the muffler surface is left exposed, creating a burn hazard for the operator and anyone in the vicinity. Replacing a damaged protector restores the protective envelope around the exhaust system and keeps the generator operating safely in the field.
