The Honda 18320-Z2E-010 Muffler Protector is a genuine OEM component designed for GX440 horizontal shaft engines. Sourced directly from Honda, this part carries the exact fit and finish the original equipment demands — no guesswork, no adaptation. If you're servicing a GX440 engine and need a direct-replacement muffler protector, part number 18320-Z2E-010 is the correct Honda OEM unit for the job.
Key Features
- Genuine Honda OEM — manufactured to Honda's own design spec, ensuring this Muffler Protector matches the original in form and function with no modifications needed to the surrounding hardware
- Direct Replacement — engineered as a drop-in replacement for the GX440 horizontal shaft engine, restoring the protective shielding around the muffler exactly as Honda intended
- Verify Your Serial Number — Honda updates part supersession at serial breaks, so confirm your engine's serial number against the fitment table before ordering to ensure you're getting the right part for your specific unit
- Heat and Contact Protection — a functioning muffler protector keeps hands, debris, and surrounding components away from the hot exhaust system; a missing or damaged one creates a burn hazard during and after operation
The muffler protector is a heat shield fitted over or around the muffler on the GX440 engine. Its job is to create a physical barrier between the muffler's exterior surface — which reaches high temperatures during operation — and anything that might come into contact with it, including operator hands, fuel lines, wiring, or nearby materials. When the protector is cracked, missing, or damaged, that barrier is gone, exposing both operators and surrounding equipment to serious burn risk. Replacing a worn or broken muffler protector restores safe operating conditions and keeps the exhaust system properly shielded across the full duty cycle of the engine.
