The Honda 23420-V0B-N20 Counter Gear is a genuine OEM component designed for the HRX217 lawn mower. Sourced directly from Honda, this part meets the same specifications as the gear installed at the factory, ensuring a correct fit within the mower's drive system. Verify your mower's serial number against the fitment table before ordering, as Honda periodically updates parts at production breaks.
Key Features
- Genuine Honda OEM — manufactured to Honda's own specifications, so tolerances and tooth geometry match exactly what your HRX217 drive system requires.
- Direct Replacement — engineered to replace the original counter gear without modification, restoring proper power transmission through the drivetrain.
- Confirmed Fitment for the HRX217 — designed specifically for HRX217 lawn mowers; check your serial number against the compatibility table to confirm the correct application for your unit.
- Drive System Integrity — a worn or damaged counter gear causes slipping, irregular wheel engagement, or complete loss of self-propulsion; replacing it with this genuine part restores smooth, consistent drive performance.
The counter gear is a key component in the HRX217's self-propelled drive transmission. It meshes with adjacent gears in the gearbox to transfer rotational power from the engine to the drive wheels, stepping down speed and multiplying torque in the process. When the gear's teeth wear down or the gear itself cracks, the drive system loses the ability to transfer power cleanly, resulting in hesitation, slippage, or a complete loss of forward drive — making timely replacement essential to keeping the mower operating as intended.
