The Honda 46720-V09-A01 Reverse Shaft is a genuine OEM component designed for HA4118 and HA4120 lawn tractors. As a direct Honda OEM part, it is manufactured to the exact dimensions and specifications of the original, ensuring a proper fit within the drivetrain without modification. This part is compatible with both the HA4118 and HA4120 lawn tractors — confirm your model and serial number against the fitment table before ordering, as Honda supersedes parts at serial breaks. When the reverse shaft wears or fails, restoring it with the correct OEM replacement brings the reverse engagement function back to proper operation.
Key Features
- Genuine Honda OEM — sourced directly from Honda, this shaft is manufactured to the same specification as the part that left the factory, ensuring correct dimensional fit within the transmission assembly.
- Restored Reverse Engagement — a worn or damaged reverse shaft causes sluggish, incomplete, or failed reverse engagement; this replacement restores crisp, positive reverse drive response.
- Fits HA4118 and HA4120 Lawn Tractors — verified fitment for both Honda lawn tractor models; check your serial number against the compatibility table to confirm the correct part for your unit.
- Serial Number Verification Recommended — Honda updates drivetrain components at production serial breaks, so always cross-reference your tractor's serial number with the fitment table to ensure this is the right shaft for your machine.
The reverse shaft is a core mechanical component within the lawn tractor's transmission, transferring rotational force through the drivetrain to enable rearward movement of the machine. It works in conjunction with gears and engagement linkage to translate operator input into controlled reverse motion. When the shaft becomes worn, bent, or damaged, reverse drive becomes unreliable or fails entirely, leaving the tractor unable to back up — a critical limitation during mowing and maneuvering in tight spaces.
