The Honda 54520-VA3-801 Change Cable is a genuine OEM replacement built for HR194 and HR214 lawn mowers. Sourced directly from Honda, this cable delivers the exact routing, length, and end fittings the original design calls for, so it installs without modification or adjustment guesswork. Confirm your mower's serial number against the fitment table before ordering, as Honda supersedes components at production breaks and part number 54520-VA3-801 covers specific serial ranges within these models.
Key Features
- Genuine Honda OEM — manufactured to the same specification as the cable your mower left the factory with, ensuring consistent actuation feel and correct cable tension from day one
- Exact-Fit Replacement — designed specifically for HR194 and HR214 lawn mowers, with matched end fittings and cable length that seat into the original anchor points without rework
- Serial Number Verification Recommended — Honda updates parts at defined production intervals, so cross-check your mower's serial number with the fitment table to confirm this is the right cable for your unit
- Smooth, Consistent Drive Control — a stretched, frayed, or seized change cable causes sluggish or unresponsive drive engagement; replacing it with this OEM cable restores crisp, predictable control response
The change cable on an HR-series walk-behind mower is the mechanical link between the operator's handle control and the drive or blade-engagement mechanism it actuates. When the rider squeezes or releases the control lever, the cable transmits that input through its housing to move the corresponding linkage. Over time, cable strands fray, the inner wire stretches, or the housing kinks, all of which introduce slack and make the control feel vague or fail to engage fully. Replacing a worn cable with a fresh OEM unit restores the direct, positive action the mower's drive system depends on for smooth, consistent operation.
