The Honda 98066-55710 Spark Plug (D5HS) is a genuine OEM replacement designed for the B75 portable outboard motor. As a factory-sourced component, this spark plug is specified to Honda's own standards for the B75, ensuring the ignition system performs exactly as Honda engineered it. Confirm your motor's serial number against the fitment table before ordering, as Honda updates part specifications at production breaks.
Key Features
- Genuine OEM Ignition Quality — sourced directly from Honda, this spark plug carries the correct heat range and electrode specification for the B75's combustion chamber, delivering clean, consistent ignition on every stroke.
- Direct OEM Replacement — manufactured to Honda's original design, this part installs directly in place of the original plug with no modification needed to thread pitch, reach, or terminal type.
- B75 Outboard Fitment — listed for the Honda B75 portable outboard motor; verify your serial number against the compatibility table to confirm this is the correct plug for your unit.
- Engine Health at Every Start — a worn or fouled spark plug causes hard starting, rough running, and poor fuel efficiency; replacing it with the correct OEM plug restores clean combustion and keeps the outboard running at full output.
A spark plug is the ignition source for the engine's combustion cycle — it receives a high-voltage pulse from the ignition coil and fires an electric arc across its electrode gap, igniting the air-fuel mixture in the cylinder. In a marine outboard like the B75, the spark plug also has to withstand the added demands of a saltwater environment, making the correct heat range and construction critical. When a spark plug wears, gaps widen and electrode material erodes, leading to misfires, loss of power, and difficulty starting — symptoms that a fresh OEM plug with the correct specification will immediately address.
