The Multiquip 5471272 Starter Drive RW1403 is a genuine OEM Starter Drive designed for the RW-1403 RAMMAX roller. Sourced directly from Multiquip, this part meets the exact specifications of the original component installed at the factory, ensuring a direct fit with no guesswork on compatibility. This part is confirmed for the RW-1403, making it the correct choice when servicing that machine.
Key Features
- Genuine OEM Engagement Integrity — Manufactured to the same tolerances as the original starter drive, ensuring consistent gear engagement with the flywheel ring gear on every start cycle.
- Direct-Fit for RW-1403 — Built specifically for the RW-1403 RAMMAX roller, this drive installs in place of the original without alteration to the starter housing or mounting hardware.
- Protects the Starter Motor — A properly functioning starter drive engages and disengages cleanly, preventing backfeed torque from damaging the starter motor armature during engine start.
- Confirmed Multiquip OEM Sourcing — Supplied as a genuine Multiquip part, so the drive geometry, spline count, and overrun clutch mechanism match the RW-1403 application exactly.
- Supports Dependable Cold and Warm Starts — A worn or slipping starter drive is a leading cause of hard-start conditions; replacing it restores crisp, immediate engine cranking performance.
The starter drive — sometimes called a Bendix drive — is the mechanism that connects the starter motor to the engine's flywheel ring gear during cranking, then automatically disengages the moment the engine fires. It uses an overrun clutch to transmit rotation in one direction only, protecting the starter motor from being spun at damaging speed by the running engine. When the starter drive wears out or its clutch mechanism fails, symptoms include grinding noises during starting, failure to crank, or a starter motor that spins freely without turning the engine — all of which bring the machine to a standstill until the drive is replaced.
