Key Features
- Genuine OEM Quality — Manufactured to Genie's original specification, delivering the same dimensional and thermal conformity as the part it replaces.
- Direct Replacement Fit — Designed as a drop-in replacement for the Z-80/60, connecting to existing fittings and mounting points without modification.
- Correct OEM Designation — Supplied as the Continental TME27 thermostat, matching the original component specification for the Z-80/60 platform.
- Engine Temperature Regulation — A properly functioning thermostat keeps the engine operating within its designed temperature range, supporting consistent performance and protecting internal engine components from overheating.
- Operational Safety — On aerial boom lifts, stable engine temperature is critical to safe, sustained operation at height; a failed thermostat can cause overheating and unexpected shutdowns.
A thermostat regulates engine coolant temperature by opening and closing a valve in response to heat. When the engine is cold, the thermostat stays closed, allowing the engine to warm up quickly. Once operating temperature is reached, it opens to allow coolant to circulate through the cooling system. A thermostat that sticks open runs the engine too cold and hurts performance; one that sticks closed causes rapid overheating and risks serious engine damage. Replacing a faulty thermostat with the correct OEM part restores proper temperature control and protects the engine over the long term.
