The Honda 23221-733-A00 Countershaft (13T) is a genuine OEM component designed for F401, F501, and FG500 tillers. As a direct Honda replacement, this countershaft is manufactured to the same specifications as the original, ensuring proper gear mesh and drivetrain function within the tiller's transmission. Honda supersedes parts at serial number breaks, so confirm your machine's serial number against the fitment table before ordering to make sure part number 23221-733-A00 is the correct application for your unit.
Key Features
- Genuine OEM Gear Integrity — sourced directly from Honda, this countershaft carries the correct 13-tooth gear profile to maintain proper torque transfer within the tiller's transmission
- Exact Drivetrain Replacement — this part replaces the original countershaft on F401, F501, and FG500 tillers, restoring the transmission to its original operating condition without modification
- Serial Number Verification Recommended — Honda revises drivetrain components across production runs; check your tiller's serial number against the fitment data to confirm this is the correct countershaft for your machine
- Restored Tilling Performance — a worn or damaged countershaft causes gear slippage, loss of drive, or erratic tine engagement; replacing it with this part returns the tiller to smooth, consistent operation
The countershaft is an internal transmission component that transfers rotational power from the input shaft to the output, stepping down speed and multiplying torque through its gear teeth. In a tiller like the F401, F501, or FG500, it plays a central role in delivering controlled, even drive to the tines. When a countershaft wears or loses teeth, the transmission loses the ability to transfer power smoothly, resulting in slipping, grinding, or a complete loss of tine drive — making prompt replacement essential to keep the machine working effectively.
