The Honda 23221-VB5-800 Countershaft is a genuine OEM component designed for the HRA216, HRC215, and HRC216 lawn mowers. Sourced directly from Honda, this countershaft is built to the exact specifications required for proper drivetrain function in these mowers. Because Honda supersedes parts at serial breaks, confirm your mower's serial number against the fitment table before ordering to ensure part number 23221-VB5-800 is the correct application for your unit.
Key Features
- Genuine Honda OEM — manufactured to Honda's exact tolerances, ensuring proper gear engagement and smooth power transfer through the drivetrain without the guesswork of an unverified substitute.
- Direct Replacement — drops into the transmission assembly of compatible HRA216, HRC215, and HRC216 mowers as a like-for-like swap, retaining all original mounting and engagement points.
- Serial Number Verification Advised — Honda updates part applications at production breaks, so cross-reference your mower's serial number with the fitment table to confirm this is the right countershaft for your machine.
- Restores Drive Performance — a worn or damaged countershaft causes slipping, binding, or complete loss of self-propel drive; replacing it with this OEM part brings the transmission back to proper working condition.
The countershaft is an internal transmission component that transfers rotational power from the engine to the drive wheels, stepping down speed and multiplying torque through the gearset. In self-propelled mowers like the HRC215, HRC216, and HRA216, the countershaft sits between the primary input and the final drive, playing a direct role in how smoothly and consistently the mower moves forward. When this shaft wears, develops play, or fails, the result is lost traction, erratic drive engagement, or a mower that no longer propels itself reliably under load.
