Honda 31610-Z5K-803ZA Control Box Assembly (EXP-Alert) (Power Red)

The Honda 31610-Z5K-803ZA Control Box Assembly (EXP-Alert) (Power Red) is a genuine OEM component designed for GX240 and GX270 horizontal shaft engines. As a direct Honda OEM replacement, this assembly is produced to the same specification as the original unit, ensuring correct function of the engine's alert and protection system. This part carries the Power Red color designation and the EXP-Alert configuration — confirm both match your original unit before ordering. Compatible with GX240 and GX270 horizontal shaft engines; verify your engine's serial number against the fitment table to confirm this is the correct variant for your application.

Key Features

• Genuine Honda OEM Assembly — sourced directly from Honda, this control box matches the original specification for correct alert system operation on GX240 and GX270 horizontal shaft engines.
• EXP-Alert Configuration — built with the EXP-Alert protection function, which monitors engine conditions and triggers a shutdown response to help prevent damage from operating faults.
• Power Red Variant — this assembly is the Power Red color-designated version; match this designation to your existing unit to ensure you are ordering the correct variant.
• Serial Number Verification Recommended — Honda supersedes control components at serial breaks, so cross-check your engine's serial number against the fitment table to confirm this assembly is correct for your specific unit.

The control box assembly houses the engine's alert and automatic shutdown circuitry. On engines equipped with the EXP-Alert system, it monitors operating conditions and cuts the engine when a fault is detected, protecting internal components from damage caused by conditions such as low oil pressure. When this assembly fails or becomes damaged, the protection system may not respond correctly, leaving the engine exposed to potentially damaging operating conditions — or preventing the engine from running at all. Replacing it with the correct genuine OEM unit restores proper control and protection function to the engine.
