Honda 31610-ZE2-834ZE Control Box Assembly (EXP-Alert) (Power Red)

The Honda 31610-ZE2-834ZE Control Box Assembly (EXP-Alert) (Power Red) is a genuine OEM component designed for GX270 horizontal shaft engines. As a direct Honda OEM part, it is built to the same specification as the assembly it replaces, ensuring the Alert protection system functions exactly as Honda intended. Confirm your engine's serial number against the fitment table before ordering, as Honda supersedes control components at production breaks and the correct variant is critical to proper operation.

Key Features

• Genuine Honda OEM Quality — sourced directly from Honda, this assembly meets the exact electrical and mechanical tolerances the EXP-Alert system requires — tolerances an off-spec substitute can easily miss
• Correct Variant Identification — the Power Red color designation and EXP-Alert callout identify this as a specific production variant; match both to your existing unit before ordering
• Direct Replacement for GX270 Engines — engineered specifically for the GX270 horizontal shaft engine, this assembly installs in place of the original with no rework required
• Serial Number Verification Recommended — Honda updates control assemblies at defined serial breaks; check your engine's serial number against the compatibility table to confirm this is the right variant for your unit

The Control Box Assembly houses the electronics that drive Honda's EXP-Alert system — a low-oil and overload protection circuit built into select GX-series engines. When the engine detects a fault condition, such as critically low oil pressure, the alert system intervenes to protect the engine from serious internal damage. A faulty or incorrect control box can cause the alert system to fail silently, leaving the engine exposed to conditions it was designed to shut down against, or conversely trigger false shutdowns that interrupt operation. Replacing a worn or failed assembly with the correct genuine OEM part restores the system's ability to monitor and respond as Honda designed.
