The Honda 34750-Z5T-W72 Electronic Control Unit is a genuine OEM component designed for GX340 and GX390 horizontal shaft engines. As a direct Honda OEM part, it is manufactured to the same specification as the unit that left the factory, ensuring the engine's electronic management functions operate exactly as intended. This part is built for GX340 and GX390 engines — confirm your engine's serial number against the fitment table before ordering, as Honda supersedes components at specific serial breaks and the correct unit varies by production range.
Key Features
- Genuine Honda OEM — sourced directly from Honda, this Electronic Control Unit carries the same part number 34750-Z5T-W72 as the original, so there is no guesswork about specification or compatibility.
- Engine Management Accuracy — the control unit governs critical electronic functions on the GX340 and GX390; a failed or degraded unit can cause erratic operation, starting faults, or loss of engine control response.
- Serial Number Verification Recommended — Honda issues revised control units at serial number break points; always match your engine's serial number to the fitment table to confirm this is the correct unit for your machine.
- Horizontal Shaft Engine Fit — designed specifically for GX340 and GX390 horizontal shaft engines and the wide range of equipment they power.
The Electronic Control Unit manages the engine's electronic systems — on Honda's GX-series commercial engines, this typically includes functions such as ignition timing control, low-oil shutdown logic, or digital governing, depending on the engine variant. When the control unit fails, these systems can behave unpredictably, leading to hard starting, sudden shutdowns, or loss of governed speed stability. Replacing a faulty unit with a genuine Honda OEM part restores proper electronic oversight and brings the engine back to its designed operating behavior.
