The Honda 23221-VA3-J52 Countershaft is a genuine OEM component designed for HR195, HR215, and HRA215 lawn mowers. As a direct Honda OEM part, it is manufactured to the exact specifications your mower's drive system demands, ensuring proper fitment without guesswork. This countershaft is the correct replacement for all covered serial ranges of these models — verify your mower's serial number against the fitment table before ordering to confirm this is the right part for your unit.
Key Features
- Genuine Honda OEM Quality — manufactured to Honda's exact dimensional and material specifications, ensuring the drive system engages and transfers power as intended.
- Direct OEM Replacement — engineered to drop into the HR195, HR215, and HRA215 drivetrain exactly as the original, preserving correct gear mesh and shaft alignment.
- Serial Number Verification Recommended — Honda updates parts at serial breaks, so cross-check your mower's serial number against the fitment table to confirm part number 23221-VA3-J52 is correct for your specific unit.
- Drivetrain Integrity — a worn or damaged countershaft disrupts power transfer through the transmission, resulting in erratic self-propel behavior or complete loss of drive; replacing it restores smooth, consistent ground speed.
The countershaft is an intermediate shaft within the mower's transmission that transfers rotational power between gear stages, stepping down speed and multiplying torque to drive the wheels at the correct pace. It works in conjunction with the surrounding gears and bearings to deliver smooth, controlled self-propulsion across the HR195, HR215, and HRA215 lawn mowers. When the countershaft wears or fails, the transmission loses the ability to relay power cleanly, causing slipping, grinding, or a complete loss of self-propel function.
