The Honda 23440-952-770 Shift Shaft is a genuine OEM component designed for the HR21 lawn mower. Sourced directly from Honda's parts catalog, this shift shaft is the exact replacement specified for the HR21 — ensuring proper engagement and smooth operation of the transmission system. Confirm the part number 23440-952-770 against your machine's serial number and parts diagram before ordering, as Honda periodically supersedes components across production runs.
Key Features
- Genuine Honda OEM — manufactured to Honda's original specifications, so this shaft mates correctly with the surrounding drivetrain components in the HR21 without modification.
- Exact Replacement Fit — identical in geometry to the original, allowing a straightforward swap during transmission service or repair.
- Drivetrain Integrity — a worn or bent shift shaft prevents clean gear engagement, causing erratic or lost drive; replacing it with this part restores precise, responsive shifting.
- Verify Your Serial Number — Honda updates parts at production breaks, so cross-check your HR21 serial number against the fitment table to confirm this is the correct shaft for your unit.
The shift shaft is a mechanical link within the HR21 lawn mower's transmission, translating the operator's gear selection into physical movement inside the gearbox to engage the correct drive ratio. When this shaft wears, bends, or breaks, the mower may lose self-propelled drive or become stuck in a single speed. Replacing a damaged shift shaft restores full control over the mower's ground speed and drive engagement.
