The Honda 23440-VA4-800 Shift Shaft is a genuine OEM component designed for HR194, HR214, and HRA214 lawn mowers. As a factory-original part, it is manufactured to the same specifications as the shaft that came on your mower, ensuring a direct, hassle-free installation. This part is confirmed for HR194, HR214, and HRA214 models — check your mower's serial number against the fitment table to verify the correct application for your unit.
Key Features
- Genuine Honda OEM — sourced directly from Honda, this Shift Shaft matches the original part exactly, so you get the correct dimensions and engagement geometry the drivetrain depends on.
- Drive Engagement Accuracy — a worn or damaged shift shaft causes imprecise gear selection and sluggish or unresponsive drive engagement; replacing it restores crisp, positive shifting.
- Confirmed Fitment — fits HR194, HR214, and HRA214 lawn mowers; cross-reference part number 23440-VA4-800 and your mower's serial number before ordering.
- Serial Number Matters — Honda supersedes parts at production breaks, so always verify your mower's serial number against the compatibility table to confirm this is the right shaft for your machine.
The shift shaft is the mechanical link between the operator's drive control and the transmission inside the mower's self-propelled drivetrain. When the operator engages or adjusts the drive lever, the shift shaft translates that input into a gear or speed change at the transmission. Over time the shaft can wear, bend, or develop play at its engagement points, causing the drive system to feel vague, slip out of gear, or fail to engage altogether. Replacing a worn shaft restores precise mechanical connection between the control lever and the transmission, bringing the self-propelled drive back to its original responsiveness.
